Random Facts

  • One of my ancestors fought in the American Revolution and is buried beside the Freedom Trail in Boston, Mass (Samuel Beal). Another relative is depicted in the painting in Faneuil Hall. Trouble-maker no doubt.
  • My Great Grandmother was the first woman to graduate from the University of Georgia (and likely the first Indian (25%). Fiercely independent. Her little sister is depicted in my blog post, Cycling is in my Genes.
  • Her grandson, my father, quit the University of Georgia after one semester to start a career in the oil business in Texas
  • I played high school football for the Odessa Permian Panthers, described in my post The Black and White.
  • I saw Jimi Hendrix perform live on stage in a college basketball gym.
